Rainbow in the Dark
The code behind this web site.
This entire web site was coded by hand in standard text editor. It's a small site, so that's not a problem. Here you can find out how it was done if you're into that kind of thing. You won't find anything about search engine optimization, or how to track visitors, or any other businessy stuff. Everything here is given away freely.
Still interested? Let's get to it!
Each one of these examples is named after a song title, and also builds upon the previous one. (The code, not the song title.)
- Straight No Chaser
Building a foundational page layout using only old school 1990s HTML.
- Going Mobile
Adjusting the design to look good on mobile devices.
- The Wall
Securing the borders of the page to stop text from spilling all over the place on wide screen devices.
- Colour My World
A little CSS to add some life to an otherwise drab page.
- Pictures of You
Using unicode symbols in place of icons.
- I Love the Night Life
Writing some simple JavaScript to make a nighttime viewing mode.
- Always Something There to Remind Me
Remembering the previously selected color scheme by saving it to a cookie.
- Pride (In the Name of Love)
Adding a rainbow mode to Davina's page with HTML DOM collections and JavaScript arrays.
